Rising Sign Calculation Reference: Settings and Examples
By The Rising · Updated · Editorial policy
The Rising computes charts with circular-natal-horoscope-js 1.1.0, the tropical zodiac and Placidus houses. The inputs are a birth date, local civil time and latitude/longitude. The examples below document our software's output, not an independent accuracy certification.
Inputs and time-zone handling
The example location is Paris, France: latitude 48.8566 north and longitude 2.3522 east. The date is 1990-06-15. All times in the table are local clock times at that location. These are synthetic inputs, not a real customer's birth details.
Our computeNatalChart function passes the local date, hour, minute and coordinates to the library's Origin object. The library resolves the time zone and historical offset internally. Your browser's time zone is not used to determine the natal chart. Do not pre-convert these examples to UTC.
Reproduce the calculation
Use Node.js with circular-natal-horoscope-js version 1.1.0. The runnable example below uses a zero-based month: 5 means June. Compare the ascendant's sign and absolute ecliptic longitude, then express the longitude within its 30-degree sign segment.
For example, 152.42 degrees of absolute longitude corresponds to Virgo 2.42 degrees. The table rounds to two decimals, matching our backend output. Different time-zone databases, library versions or zodiac settings may produce differences and should be documented when comparing implementations.
Limits and corrections
A noon fallback is used for planetary calculations when the birth time is unknown, and the public calculator does not show an ascendant in that mode. Sun or Moon signs may still be uncertain if they change during that day. Historical local-time ambiguity, inaccurate coordinates and rounded birth records can also affect results.
Placidus house calculations have limitations at high latitudes. A successful software response is not proof of independent astronomical accuracy. These examples were checked against our installed engine on October 5, 2026; no independent ephemeris validation is claimed. Use our contact page to report a discrepancy with reproducible inputs and settings.
