The Rising
About The Rising
The Rising is a personalized astrology platform built around your rising sign. The rising sign — the zodiac sign on the eastern horizon at the exact moment of your birth — determines how the world meets you, how you present yourself, and how each day's planetary energy aligns with your personal chart.
What we offer
A free rising sign calculator, comprehensive educational content for all 12 rising signs, and a subscription product for daily personalized alignment guidance by email.
Why we start from the rising sign
Most horoscope products are built on the sun sign because it only requires a birth date. That convenience comes at a cost: the sun sign describes your core identity, but it says very little about how you actually move through a day — how you come across in a first meeting, how you react under pressure, where your energy naturally goes. Those patterns belong to the ascendant. The rising sign also anchors the entire house system of your chart, which means every other placement is read through it. Starting anywhere else means starting with the wrong lens.
What a daily alignment is
Each morning, The Rising computes the day's actual planetary transits and reads them against your personal natal chart — not your sun sign's generic forecast. The result is a short, direct briefing: the day's edge, one concrete move to make, what is at stake if you ignore it, and a preview of tomorrow. No planet jargon, no vague mysticism — the astrology runs underneath, and what you read is plain language you can act on before your first meeting.
Our approach
We use birth date, birth time, birth place, coordinates, and time-zone-aware calculations. A rising sign requires all three inputs. We never suggest birth date alone is sufficient.
The calculations are deterministic: the same birth data always produces the same chart, using the Placidus house system and the tropical zodiac — the standards of modern Western astrology. The full pipeline is documented publicly in how we calculate rising signs, and the editorial rules that govern every published page are in our editorial policy.
What we will not do
We do not publish medical or health claims dressed up as astrology, financial predictions tied to transits, fear-based content engineered to alarm you into subscribing, or unverified celebrity birth charts stated as fact. Astrology at its best is a language for self-observation and timing — we keep it in that lane, and we say plainly what it can and cannot tell you.
Free and paid, clearly separated
Everything educational on this site is free and indexable: the calculator, all twelve rising sign guides, every topic page, and every comparison. The paid product is one thing only — the daily personalized alignment briefing, delivered by email on a subscription that starts with a free trial and can be cancelled in two clicks. Free readers are never drip-fed half a page to force an upgrade.
The subscription itself follows the same plain-dealing rule: billing runs through Stripe, the trial is stated up front, and cancelling takes effect immediately from your own account page — no retention scripts, no emails required. If something goes wrong with a charge or a delivery, the contact page explains exactly how to reach a person who can fix it.
